On the eve of thanksgiving, it only seems appropriate that I find something to give thanks for. Hmmm. I’m thankful for my health, my freedom and the pursuit of happiness? BORING. How about booze, sex and rock and roll, something I think the boys of Throw the Goat would agree with me on.
Hailing from the mountains surrounding Southern California, Throw the Goat toutsthemselves as “a wrecking crew of heavy rock madness” with “a reputation for inciting mass amounts of partying, causing fans to fill venues beyond capacity and drink the bar dry.” Well played, gentlemen. Indeed, Throw the Goat brings it with a head banging combination of heavy rock nuance, high energy riffing and subtle punk rock undertones. These guys take no prisoners with songs like “Too Late“ (“life is full of pain/until its too late”) and “Let it Rot”, which starts off with, “too much to dream last night/sex, drugs, I drank the blood/woke up and didn’t feel alright.”
Who would feel alright after such debauchery? Maybe these guys…
Raw and unrefined (consider that a compliment), the boys of Throw the Goat seamlessly combine the elements of a number of different genres in their first and aptly named demo, Demo Primero. Give it a listen, give thanks and don’t be afraid to Throw the Goat if you catch these guys on their Southern California circuit.
