Step aside Darkest Hour. Ya’ll did well with “Severed Into Separates” but it seems that High on Fire has run the gamut in terms of shit that should be in a metal video. The gang’s all here. We’ve got guns, motorcycles, psychadelia, boobs, euphemisms for vagina, child sacrifice, human/animal hybrids, drug-induced divination, and to top it off, a provacative mashup of industrial and religious symbols. While in such a schizophrenic ink blot, I see commentary about religious fanaticism and how it has historically been used to govern empires, another bro will probably just astutely note that carnage and sexy time are the bees knees. Officially, the storyline is this. My comments in Bold.
The video follows the story of Balteazeen, the Christ Twin, (I think HoF made him up but not sure) who sacrificed himself to give Jesus life (How deviously meta). Forever hunted, he roams the slaughterhouse of Time (Why is Time capitalized? Is it a personified bro in the story?), searching for answers to the riddle of his own existence…
As you can see, this video is riddled with riddles. The cast and crew are as follows.
Director: Phil Mucci Starring:
James Frey as “Balteazeen” (http://www.jamesfreycomedy.com)
Sara Noah as “The Oracle of Green”
Ian MacKay as “Gluteus Maximus”, “Crowcifer 2″, and “Fake Shemp”
Marissa Johnson as “Crowcifer 1″
Tommy Wilson as “The Sage”
This video might be too much win for its own good.
